natural leather and artificial leather

Natural leather and Artificial Leather for Bag

There are many types of leather for bags. According to factors such as source, production process and purpose, they can be roughly divided into two categories: natural leather and artificial leather.

1. Natural leather

Natural leatherrefers to leather made from animal skin, with unique texture and feel. Common types of natural leather include:

Cowhide:Top layer of cowhide: also known as “cow leather”, it is the original hide of an animal, processed through tanning, dyeing, coating and other processes, with soft texture and good elasticity, it is the preferred material for making high-end bags.

Second layer of cowhide:usually a second layer of leather with loose fiber structure of raw split leather, processed through chemical material spraying or coating with PVC, PU film, the price is relatively low, but the durability is still good.

Cowhide paint leather: a special cowhide processing process, with a silky surface, good touch, wear resistance and easy care, and has a high collection value.

Sheepskin:Sheepskin includes goat skin, lamb skin, sheep skin, etc., and the general characteristics are delicate and soft feel, and small pores among leathers. It is often used to make high-end leather goods and fashion products.

2. Artificial leather

Artificial leather, also known as synthetic leather or fake leather, is a material made of synthetic materials to replace leather. Unlike natural leather, it does not come from animal skin, but is industrially produced using synthetic materials to simulate the appearance and texture of natural leather. Common types of artificial leather include:

Polyurethane (PU) leather:It is a widely used synthetic leather material with good wear resistance, water resistance and oil resistance, and is easy to clean and maintain.

Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) leather:Another common synthetic leather material, the appearance and texture are similar to natural leather, but the air permeability and moisture absorption are poor.

Special artificial leather:Such as artificial suede, artificial crocodile leather, etc., these leathers simulate certain characteristics of natural leather, such as softness, texture, etc., through special processes and technologies, but the cost may be higher.

Eco-friendly leather:
With the improvement of environmental awareness, more and more environmentally friendly leathers are appearing on the market, such as:

Bio-based leather:
Leather processed from renewable biological resources as raw materials, such as plant fiber leather and protein leather. Significant advantages in terms of sustainability.

Recycled leather:
Leather is reprocessed from discarded leather products through processes such as crushing, degreasing, and drying. It has positive significance in reducing resource waste and environmental pollution.
